Your Adventure Begins…

Picture yourself embarking on an unforgettable adventure through Kenya and Tanzania, soaring over spectacular landscapes on a series of short bush flights. Your journey starts in lively Nairobi before you head into the wildlife-rich Mara Naboisho Conservancy, a private reserve next to the Masai Mara. Continue to the eastern Serengeti, renowned for its big cats and sweeping plains, then end in Ruaha National Park, one of Tanzania’s wildest and most rewarding parks. Along the way you enjoy walking safaris, night drives, authentic cultural experiences and time to relax in beautiful, characterful camps. This itinerary is truly thinking outside the box by linking these contrasting territories.

Day 1

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you are warmly welcomed by your driver and transferred to Hemingways Nairobi, a charming boutique hotel.

Depending on your arrival time, you can explore some of Nairobi’s highlights: visit the Karen Blixen Museum, home of the author of Out of Africa, or meet the endangered Rothschild giraffes at the nearby Giraffe Centre. After a long flight, settle in, enjoy dinner at the hotel and rest up for the safari adventures that begin the next day.

Days 2-4

This morning you transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight into the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, part of Kenya’s Greater Mara ecosystem. Bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve and neighbouring conservancies, Naboisho protects over 50,000 hectares of unspoilt wilderness. The area is known for its rich biodiversity and breathtaking scenery, with lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, wild dog and abundant plains game.

You spend three nights at Naboisho Camp, an elegant tented retreat with just nine spacious tents, each with a veranda and en-suite bathroom. From here you explore the conservancy on shared game drives by day and night, guided walks and, for those who wish, a night in a simple fly camp under the stars. Fascinating cultural visits to nearby Maasai communities can also be arranged and come highly recommended.

Days 5-6

After breakfast you fly south, crossing into Tanzania and over the vast Serengeti National Park. The acacia-dotted plains of the Eastern Serengeti are home to abundant wildlife and form part of the route of the famous Great Migration.

Your base for the next two nights is Namiri Plains Camp, a stylish safari camp in one of Africa’s best big-cat areas. This region boasts some of the highest concentrations of cheetah in Africa and is also a stronghold for lion, leopard and serval cats. Head out on guided game drives and, when pre-booked, walking safaris to discover the area in more detail. For a truly memorable experience, add a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the Serengeti followed by a bush breakfast.

Days 7-9

From the Serengeti you fly on to Ruaha National Park in southern Tanzania, now one of the country’s largest parks after its merger with the Usangu Game Reserve and other wetlands. Ruaha is a vast wilderness of sun-bleached plains, mighty baobabs and palm-lined rivers. It is a haven for elephant and buffalo and is home to significant populations of lion and leopard, as well as a profusion of birdlife.

Your final three nights are spent at Jabali Ridge, a luxurious lodge tucked among granite boulders and ancient baobabs. The eight airy suites feature king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms and private decks with sweeping views over the baobab forest. Spend your days on game drives and bush walks in search of lion, leopard, elephant and endangered African wild dog. Between activities, cool off in the infinity pool, visit the spa or simply relax on your deck with a favourite drink. Evenings bring lantern-lit dinners beneath a sky full of stars.

Day 10

After a final breakfast in Ruaha, you are transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam) and your onward international connection. Your 10-day safari through Kenya and Tanzania comes to an end, leaving you with lasting memories of Nairobi’s energy, the open plains of the Mara and Serengeti, and the wild beauty of Ruaha.
