Your Adventure Begins…

This one-week journey gives you a taste of everything that makes northern Tanzania special. Start with a gentle arrival night on the outskirts of Arusha, then head up into the Rift Valley escarpment for fertile farm country, forested slopes, and the dramatic Ngorongoro Crater. Finish with three nights in the Serengeti, where your camp moves with the herds so you can spend your days tracking lions, elephants and vast columns of wildebeest and zebra on the move.

Day 1

Welcome to Arusha Touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your driver meets you with a cool drink and a smile. Settle into Katambuga House, a charming lodge tucked among coffee fields outside Arusha. Take a swim, enjoy the views of Mount Meru, or simply stretch out with a good meal and an early night so you wake fresh for the start of your safari.

Days 2-3

Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Crater After breakfaavst, your guide collects you for the drive west, passing busy roadside villages and the colourful market town of Mto wa Mbu. Your first game drive unfolds in Lake Manyara National Park, where flamingos, pelicans and other waterbirds crowd the lakeshore while elephant, giraffe and buffalo graze nearby. A picnic lunch in the shade keeps you out all day before you continue up the escarpment to your lodge near Karatu. The next morning you set off early into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending from the forested crater rim onto the floor of this vast natural amphitheatre in search of lion, black rhino and large herds of plains game, returning to your lodge in time to relax before dinner.

Days 4-6

Northern Serengeti Migration Country From Karatu you retrace your route to Manyara Airstrip and board a light aircraft into the Serengeti. Your mobile camp is placed to follow the migrating herds, bringing you close to river crossings and open plains alive with predators. Spend the next two full days on unhurried game drives – early mornings and late afternoons, or a full day out with a picnic – watching for big cats, elephant families, giraffe and swirling flocks of vultures. Evenings are for sundowners in scenic spots and stories around the campfire under a sky crowded with stars.
