Your Adventure Begins…
This Pure South journey links two of Tanzania’s most remarkable – and least visited – national parks into one seamless itinerary. After a night to unwind in the city, you fly by light aircraft into Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous), where lakes, rivers and open woodland offer superb wildlife viewing from land and water. Boat safaris, walks and game drives reveal hippos, crocodiles, elephants, giraffe and, with luck, African wild dogs.
From here, you head west to Ruaha National Park, a vast reserve of rolling hills, rocky kopjes and ancient baobab forests. Huge elephant herds, plentiful lions, a healthy population of leopards and outstanding birdlife make every drive or walk exciting. Evenings are spent around the fire or by the pool at Jabali Ridge, soaking up immense views over the plains before your final flight back to Dar es Salaam.
Day 1
Arrive in Dar es Salaam
Your driver meets you at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for a seamless transfer to your hotel for a restful night. Settle into your comfortable room and unwind as you ease into safari mode. This city stop is all about resting after your long flights so you’re fully refreshed for the Southern Circuit adventure ahead.

Days 2-4
Rivers & Wildlife of Nyerere National Park
After breakfast, you transfer back to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for your light aircraft flight into Nyerere National Park. On arrival at the airstrip, your guide game drives you to Roho ya Selous, a beautifully positioned tented camp overlooking Lake Nzerakera. Your time here is completely flexible. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives in search of elephants, giraffes, lions and more, or join a walking safari to explore the miombo woodland on foot. Boat safaris are a highlight, gliding along the waterways to watch hippos, crocodiles and prolific birdlife at close range. Keen anglers can try catch-and-release fishing. Evenings bring sundowners back at camp and dinner under the African sky.

Days 5-7
Big Game in Ruaha National Park
Today you fly by light aircraft to Ruaha National Park. Your guide meets you at the airstrip and game drives you through classic Ruaha scenery – rocky hills, sweeping valleys and towering baobabs – to Jabali Ridge. At Jabali Ridge, each day is designed around how you like to travel. Start with a walking safari at first light, or choose a morning or full-day game drive with a picnic in the bush. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds, dense predator numbers and excellent general game. Between activities, cool off in the infinity pool, visit the spa or simply enjoy the view from your room’s hammock. After dark, sip your favourite drink before dinner or join a night drive to search for Ruaha’s more elusive nocturnal wildlife.
