Summit Kilimanjaro: Africa's Highest Peak

Standing at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet), Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain and one of the world’s most iconic trekking achievements. Unlike technical mountaineering peaks, Kilimanjaro can be climbed by fit and determined travelers without specialist climbing experience. This journey takes you through multiple ecological zones, from rainforest and moorland to alpine desert and the arctic summit zone, culminating at Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the African continent.

For travelers seeking the best balance of scenery, acclimatization, and summit success, we recommend the Lemosho Route.

Widely regarded as Kilimanjaro’s premier route, Lemosho approaches the mountain from the quieter western side and offers one of the strongest acclimatization profiles available.

Beginning in lush rainforest, the trail gradually climbs across the expansive Shira Plateau before traversing heathlands, alpine desert, and the mountain’s southern circuit. This longer route allows climbers more time at altitude, improving summit success while showcasing some of Kilimanjaro’s most spectacular scenery.

  • Barranco Wall
  • Karanga Valley
  • Barafu Camp

Seasons

June – October (Peak Climbing Season)

Generally considered the best time to climb Kilimanjaro. Conditions are typically dry, visibility is excellent, and summit views can be spectacular. Nights at higher elevations remain extremely cold, but trekking conditions are usually at their best.

Another excellent climbing season with generally stable weather and good visibility. Daytime temperatures are often warmer than during the middle of the year, while summit conditions remain cold.

The wettest period on the mountain. Trails can be muddy and cloud cover more common, though the mountain is quieter and the lower slopes become exceptionally green and scenic.

A transitional season with intermittent rainfall. Climbs continue to operate, and those comfortable with changing mountain conditions can enjoy a less crowded experience.

Optional Extensions

Combine your climb with Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations, including Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park.

Recover from your climb on Zanzibar’s white-sand beaches, combining relaxation with the history and culture of Stone Town.

An off-the-beaten-path extension known for dramatic volcanic landscapes, seasonal flamingo populations, waterfalls, and views of Ol Doinyo Lengai.

While the Lemosho Route is generally our preferred recommendation, we can also arrange climbs via the Machame, Rongai, Marangu, and Umbwe Routes, depending on your experience level, preferences, and available time.

Important Note:- Professional mountain guides, porters, camping equipment, meals on the mountain, park fees, rescue fees, and accommodation before and after the climb are included. International flights, personal trekking equipment, tips, and travel insurance are additional.
